Dhamra is a modern deep-water bulk terminal north of Paradip working capesize coal and ore parcels, with little of the surrounding commercial infrastructure an older port accumulates. Almost everything a vessel needs there has to arrive from somewhere else, which is precisely the problem a chandler exists to solve.
Working Dhamra
- Capesize-capable berths draw large parcels and correspondingly large crew requisitions.
- Limited local supply market: provisions, spares and bonded stores are brought in rather than sourced at the gate.
- Terminal access is controlled and passes are pre-arranged; there is no walk-up delivery.
