TECHNICAL
SERVICES

Professional servicing, surface preparation, and motor rewinding for vessels at berth.

K

Ship Chandlers

Requisitions are quoted against your own item list and delivered to the vessel at berth or anchorage. Bonded stores, fresh and frozen provisions, deck and engine consumables, cabin stores and nautical equipment are handled on the same order.

Orders are accepted around the clock. Delivery is arranged to fit the port call rather than office hours, because a vessel sailing on the tide will not wait for a warehouse to open.

M

Liferaft Servicing

Liferafts in rigid container and valise packing, for leisure and commercial craft, are collected from the vessel, serviced at a DG Shipping-approved service station for the raft's make, and returned. We handle the collection, the booking and the return, nationwide.

A2Z is not itself a liferaft service station: the approved station carries out the servicing and issues the service certificate. Our coordination runs under an ISO 9001 quality management system.

T

Chipping and Painting

Surface preparation and recoating of decks, holds, tanks and superstructure, carried out in port by trained crews with current equipment.

Work is planned around the vessel's schedule and documented to the standards the attending class surveyor expects.

G

Motor Rewinding

Rewinding and repair of power alternators, lift motors, pumps and pneumatic welding machines, returned tested and ready to install.

The same workshop takes shipboard electrical repairs — lighting, lamps and fittings — and welding job work. Units can be collected from the vessel and returned to the berth, so the ship keeps its schedule.

I

Lifeboat & Davit Servicing

Servicing and installation of on-load release gear, overhaul of lifeboat winch and brake systems, renewal of wire falls, and servicing of sheaves and blocks. Lifeboat repairs are handled by the same team.

Work is scheduled around the port call and carried out alongside. Where an operation calls for a class or flag surveyor to attend, that is arranged with the vessel rather than assumed.

O

Engine & Propulsion Repair

Main engine routines and auxiliary engine overhaul, together with maintenance of propulsion and steering machinery. Component work covers crankshaft grinding, metal spraying, and valve seat and spindle reconditioning.

Work is planned to the vessel's own maintenance schedule and carried out in port, so the overhaul fits the call rather than extending it.

Other Technical Work

Some of this work is approval-bound — LSA and FFA servicing, lifeboat and davit work, and anything a class or flag surveyor must attend. Where an approval or an attending surveyor is required, that is arranged with the vessel rather than assumed.
